Why ANTEATER?

Understand the HyperFluxCMS's codename

The choice of "Anteater" as the codename for the first version of HyperFluxCMS and an anteater as a mascot was not by chance. Learn the reasons that led us to this choice.

Anteater is the codename for the current version of HyperFluxCMS.

We like Google's idea of naming major Android versions after sweets, following alphabetical order (Cupcake, Donut, Eclair, Froyo, Ice Cream Sandwich, etc). But too many sweets make you gain weight. So we decided to use version codenames to honor wild animals, preferably those that are vulnerable.

Since the project may cross borders, and also because for software developers the English language is not usually a barrier, we decided to use English animal names.

That's why we chose ANTEATER for the first version. This choice has two additional factors: first, the Giant Anteater is a typical animal from Brazil, which is the country of origin of HyperFluxCMS and therefore worthy of receiving the first homage. The second is that we know that the first version of a software, especially an ambitious project like HyperFluxCMS, is subject to having an undesirable number of bugs. And since anteaters eat ants and termites, which are also insects, the name alludes to the fact that it is a version released to "hunt" as many bugs as possible.

Exceptionally, for the letter A, there will be another version, ARMADILLO, which feeds on insects as well, and is very common in Brazil and the rest of Latin America.

The third version will likely be called Black Jaguar, and the next one some animal whose English name starts with C. If we ever get past the Zebra version, we will rethink the codename selection policy.
